September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the Coshocton County District Library joins the American Library Association and libraries nationwide to remind everyone about the valuable resources available with a library card. From borrowing books, ebooks, and audiobooks to getting homework help, learning new skills, or attending a book club or story time, a library card helps everyone do more of what you enjoy. Read an eBook Day September 18th is “Read an eBook Day!” eBooks enable you to take the stories and authors you love with you anytime, anywhere. # Bookmobile Schedule The Bookmobile’s 2023-24 schedule can be accessed at www.coshoctonlibrary.org/bookmobile or by picking up a schedule at the library. About the Bookmobile The Coshocton County Bookmobile service started in 1952, with a 1939 Dodge purchased for $500. The current Bookmobile, a 2017 Bluebird, is a fullfunctioning library with Wi-Fi, one computer, and a printer available for public use. Your first library card is free, and books are available for all ages. Bookmobile patrons can request materials from the entire SEO consortium of over 250 libraries. National Friends of Libraries Week Friends of Libraries groups have their very own national week of celebration! The 18th annual National Friends of Libraries Week will be held October 15-21, 2023. Celebrate by stopping in the Books Galore Book Store! Books Galore Book Store Operated by Friends of the Library volunteers, Books Galore has gently-used books, DVDs and more for sale at rock-bottom prices. The store is located in the basement of the Coshocton County Library. Special Collections Activity Kits Activity kits are designed to accommodate senior adults who may be experiencing cognitive decline. Each kit includes at least one activity intended to support brain function, memory recall, and fine-motor skills, along with supportive literature for caretakers. Kits are available to borrow at the Main Library and may be checked out for 4 weeks. Character Kits Enjoy classic children’s stories with a beloved literary character by your side. Characters include Brown Bear, Curious George, Elephant & Piggie, Little Blue Truck, Llama Llama, Thomas, and many more. Character kits are available to check out at both the Main Library and West Lafayette Branch and may be checked out for 2 weeks. Disc Golf Sets Enjoy rounds of enjoyment at Eagle Ridge Disc Golf Course in Coshocton. Each disc golf set includes 1 driver disc, 1 mid-range disc, and 1 putter disc. The discs are available to borrow at the Main Library for adult & teen library cardholders and may be checked out for 2 weeks. Hotspots Mobile hotspots provide Wi-Fi in areas with Internet-access capabilities and are intended for those who would otherwise not have access to the Internet at home. Launchpads Playaway Launchpads are pre-loaded tablets with high-quality, ad-free learning apps and games, providing hours of interactive learning and play for children. Pickleball Sets Four tournament-approved individual pickleball sets & two non-tournament-approved game sets are available to borrow at the Main Library and may be checked out for 2 weeks. This collection was made possible in thanks to the Coshocton Pickleball Club & Engage Pickleball. Sensory Toys Sensory toys are intended to provide a playful experience for the senses and to help develop motor skills for children or those with developmental disabilities. The S.E.N.S.E. (Sensory Experience Nurturing Special Education) is located in the Main Library Children’s Room. Yard Games Enjoy outdoor (or indoor) fun!
