The Story Quilts of Faith Ringgold

The Story Quilts of Faith Ringgold

Monday, February 08, 2021 | 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

There are many ways to tell a story. Visual artist, Faith Ringgold, combines painting, quilt making, and the written word in a medium that she calls Story Quilts. Join us as we take a look at examples of her work, especially “The Sunflower Quilting Bee at Arles.” Created in 1997, this piece pays tribute to the historical women (including Sojourner Truth, Ida B. Wells, and Rosa Parks among others) who show up for an imaginary quilting bee that takes place in a field of Van Gogh sunflowers.

This program will appear on the Coshocton Public Library System’s Facebook page. If you are not a Facebook user, you can email adultprograms@coshoctonlibrary.org to receive a link to watch this program at your convenience.
